By PATRICIA CRISAFULLI
My world has gone virtual, faster than I would have thought possible. I now exchange emails far more frequently with people whom I have never met than with those I see on a fairly regular basis. I have e-friends who are quite dear to me, including the regular contributors to this site.
The irony of this lies in the fact that, fifteen years ago or so, when I was a news reporter for Reuters, I actually turned down Internet training. What was the sense of that? I remember thinking at the time. Although I conceded that perhaps it would be useful for research, I couldn't see what the big deal was with the World Wide Web. So much for me being a vanguard of change!
Of course much has changed for me in the decade-and-a-half since then—and undoubtedly for you, too. With a click we connect: adding friends and contacts, both old and news. A friend I lost track of twenty years ago found me online the other day; when I heard from her, two missing decades evaporated. I receive notes now and again from people whose e-paths have crossed mine. In the vastness of cyberspace, these connections create community.
For the sake of community, I'm asking you to consider a few clicks:
The first is in support of Dallas Woodburn's ""Write On! For Literacy"" a non-profit organization this young woman founded to encourage kids to discover and explore reading and writing. Dallas, who has been a featured writer on FaithHopeandFiction, is one of seven finalists for a $5,000 grant through the Glamour Magazine/Sally Hansen ""Best of You"" contest. It costs NOTHING except for a moment of your time. Please click on the link and vote for Dallas:

The second is an invitation to explore ""lovingkindness"" with Sylvia Boorstein, also a member of the FaithHopeandFiction community, who is one of the world's most esteemed teachers of Buddhist wisdom and practice. Sylvia is offering an online retreat, which sounded so interesting I wanted to help spread the word. I invite you to click and explore: http://www.bit.ly/Lovingkindness
And at long last, I also invite you to follow me on Twitter, to receive posts from my writing world a couple of times a day. If you're on Twitter, be sure to let me know, too.
Thank you all, dear connections. It makes my heart happy to know you're just a click away.
